The owners of this Park Slope brownstone had lived with a worn 1990s kitchen for years — honey oak cabinets, laminate counters and a single fluorescent tube. We gutted the room to the studs, moved plumbing and electrical to open the layout, and rebuilt it with custom white shaker cabinetry, matte black hardware, quartz countertops and a handmade zellige tile backsplash.

This Astoria bath still had its original pink ceramic tile and a vanity past saving. We stripped it to the framing, installed a full waterproofing system, and rebuilt with classic white subway tile, a new vanity and brushed fixtures. Large-format floor tile makes the small room feel twice its size.

Nothing in a pre-war Tribeca loft is square, and this 14-foot living room wall was no exception. We scribed every panel to the out-of-plumb walls, built around an existing radiator with a vented cover, and finished the woodwork in our shop before a two-day install. The result looks like it was always there.

The original stair in this Williamsburg duplex was carpeted, creaking and dark. We rebuilt it with solid treads, fabricated a black steel balustrade in our metal shop, and coordinated the skylight opening that now floods the stairwell with light. Every tread is glued, screwed and blocked — silent underfoot.

A tight Hoboken bathroom got a full tile refresh — large-format porcelain floor tile run continuously into the shower, wall tile to the ceiling, and a fully sealed shower pan. Proper substrate prep and tight grout lines make a small space read clean and intentional.
